Monoblok & Pussyselektor STRAIGHTHEAD EP [NOTO22]
Release info: The Straighthead EP is the very first material ever released as Monoblok & Pussyselektor, although both tracks were actually not the very first to come out of the studio. After a few work sessions, early versions of what would later become the foundations of the second EP had already been put together and roughly arranged as we were eager to test them in the DJ booth. Eventually, we didn't feel completely satisfied and decided to put them on hold and start something else from scratch.
"Straighthead" and "Last Man Standing" were produced over the course of a few studio sessions within the next few weeks, and after sending them to a bunch of labels they eventually got signed by French label Notorious Elektro, at a time when we were actually finishing the pre-mentionned very first two tracks, later released on the Make/Shift EP.
"Straighthead" and "Last Man Standing" are very much inspired by the minimal techno stuff we were into at the time, but even after we adjusted and refined our sound into something more personal - around the Wonky Tonk period - we kept playing both tracks in our liveset for several years.
The vinyl version has long been out of stock, but the EP is still available on all digital platforms, and the title track has even been included in a label compilation a few years after its initial release.
